Jefferson

Jefferson

Jefferson is the curator and host of Bare!, monthly in Boston, New York and Washington, D.C. A sex educator and writer, Jefferson keeps a pseudonymous blog, One Life, Take Two, that details his life as a parent and pervert. He is a storyteller frequently seen on stages around New York and elsewhere, including The Moth, where he is a StorySlam winner. He is also host of Spill! True Stories of Queer Sex, Desire and Romance, monthly in New York and Washington, D.C., and Foreplay! A Sexy Storytelling Open Mic, biweekly in New York.

Chris Connolly

Chris Connolly

Chris Connolly has lived through an Ecuadoran coup d’etat, been a massage therapist to the Bush family and named the octopus that frequents her favorite dive spot off the coast of Israel “Fred.” Chris has been talking about sex as an educator for over a decade working in clinics to universities and everything in between. She recently transitioned from not only teaching about sex, but also laughing about it in her stand up and stories.

Kevin Quigley

Kevin Quigley

Kevin Quigley has worked as the producer of Sketchhaus, the premier sketch comedy night at ImprovBoston, since early 2012. He also directs, acts, and writes for two sketch comedy teams, Duct Tape Revolution and World of Hurt, both of which have had successful runs at both Sketchhaus and at the Comedy Lab at IB. In addition, Kevin co-produced The Scoop, a limited-run storytelling night, during which he frequently appeared as a performer. Kevin has also performed standup at 100 First Jokes, and more recently at Andy Ofiesh’s Naked Comedy Night. He is the host of Bleed Out, a confessional storytelling show at Radio Comedy.

Cecilia Tan

Cecilia Tan

Cecilia Tan is “simply one of the most important writers, editors, and innovators in contemporary American erotic literature,” according to Susie Bright. A longtime activist and BDSM community organizer, Tan is being praised by reviewers because her current novel, SLOW SURRENDER, “redeems the dominant billionaire trope” (Romantic Times). In 1992 Tan founded Circlet Press, a category-busting independent press that mixes science fiction/fantasy with erotica. She is the author of Black Feathers, White Flames, The Prince’s Boy, Mind Games, Edge Plays, Telepaths Don’t Need Safewords, the Magic University series, and many other books, and her short stories have appeared in Ms. Magazine, Nerve, Best American Erotica, Asimov’s Science Fiction, and tons of other places.

Diana Valentine

Diana Valentine

Diana Valentine hails from Long Island. She collects stories and wears their heads around her neck like trophies. Her favorite story genres are personal ghost stories, family/heritage stories, and adult cuddle adventures. Despite her ruthlessness in capturing stories, most of her stories are humorous and haunting, they will fill you up, stick to your bones and stay with you for a long time. Diana currently runs an older youth organization in the Boston Metro Area.

Shari VanderWerf

Shari VanderWerf is a Boston-based writer and stand-up comedian. Her work has appeared on television and in a host of international publications. She is the writer and producer of Late Listed, a series of short films about stand-up comedy and released her first comedy EP in September of 2012.  Over 24,000 subscribers enjoy Shari’s daily dose of humor via her Twitter feed at www.twitter.com/shariv67 which earned her the Huffington Post’s recommendation as one of the top funny females to follow.

True Stories of Queer Sex, Desire and Romance.

Diane Ivey

Diane Ivey

Diane Ivey is a writer and storyteller. From a self-composed how-to guide on being an adventure heroine, to an obsessive college crush on the vaguely-Harrison-Ford-resembling editor of her college newspaper, to sundry forays into erotic historical fanfiction, Diane’s material comes from the tragic and hilarious place where fangirl obsession meets real life. Diane first performed in the January 2009 production of Mortified Chicago, reading her seventh-grade diary detailing her grandiose plans to write the next Gone With the Wind. She regularly performs with Story League in Washington, D.C.

Morgan

Morgan

Morgan describes herself as a “middle-aged woman, provided she lives to be one hundred and eighteen.” A transgendered comic and storyteller, Morgan has appeared at Gotham Comedy Club, Harvey’s in the Castro, The Punchline in San Francisco and the legendary Purple Onion.

Victoria Rocha

Victoria Rocha

Victoria Rocha is an emerging raconteur as she navigates the storytelling waters of DC, including her first storytelling performances at Speakeasy DC and Story League in February—both, not-so-shockingly, about sex, one her favorite topics. Still, Victoria is not new to performing, with her first role at age eight in Young Chautauqua as General George Custer. The company’s only female to portray a male, Victoria just loves the facial hair—it’s like bonsai of the face. Her collegiate theatrical training included acting, improv and stage make-up. Since moving to Washington, DC from Nevada, Victoria was in The Firm’s production of the Vagina Monologues in 2010 and 2011. Victoria has fallen in love with storytelling and is hoping, with some encouragement, to attempt stand-up in the near future.

David Erik Finn

David Erik Finn

Flying in the face of a Facebook-assisted divorce, David Erik Finn talks about the time when the culmination of his “five stages of grief” not only brought him full-circle on the relationship, but also got his fill of first-time prostrate massage via a night stick one night . . . mentioning any more would impinge on the summary aspect of this summary.

Samaria “Sam Jay” Johnson

Samaria “Sam Jay” Johnson

Samaria “Sam Jay” Johnson is a Boston native, lesbian and African American who brings her many vantages to bear in a style that is uniquely her own, forging stories and comedy that are witty, relatable and raw. Sam Jay provokes audiences by pushing their thinking while still giving her sets the feel of a barroom conversation with one of your funniest friends. Her familiar personality on and off stage has allowed her to build quite the buzz in and around Boston comedy circles. Opening for power house/veteran acts like Joe Clair (BET), Clint Coley (DL Hugley protégé), and Rob Stapleton (Comedy Central) has not only helped this rising star hone her skills but has also allowed her to branch out up and down the East Coast. Performing at comedic institutions like Gotham NYC and the Comedy Studio in Cambridge MA, Sam Jay is wowing audiences and building her fan base.

Bret McKabe

Brett McCabe

Brett McCabe is not the hero we deserve, but the one we need right now. His blunt humor and sexual misadventures are perfect for any parent’s basement. In an effort to sway the judges by indulging in the sponsor’s product, Brett did not advance past the first round of the Jack Daniel’s Best Bar Comic competition. Jim Jefferies once called him “fuckface” on the Talkin’ Shit podcast, though has ignored Brett’s text messages ever since. His parents still aren’t proud of him.

Shivali Goudar

Shivali Goudar is a comedian and singer laugh-rocking her way around the many stages of the DC area. Originally hailing from Texas, this performer has a larger-than-life personality that will leave you captivated and craving something sweet.  When she’s not singing and slinging jokes, you can find her co-producing and hosting The Encyclopedia Show DC on the first Friday of every month.
