  1. Well, if you had a Skype voicemail, I would have left a voice message, but since I’m in Germany, I won’t call overseas 🙂

So here’s my written comment: First off, I really like the “old”, shorter length of the podcast, because that means I can put Masocast in for short bus rides or commute and listen to it from start to finish. It’s also easier to make time for it, as opposed to longer podcasts where I often think “oh, that’s another hour. When can I listen to that?”

That said, this longer episode did not drag at all. I also wanted to comment on the previous episode, which was by far the best of many good episodes of the Masocast. I enjoyed the dynamic of the couple immensely, it really enhanced the normally great energy of the interview.

    So keep it up!

  2. I agree with Patrick that I like the shorter format. Also, it gets tiring to hear pro dommes come on the show and try to claim its not about the money for them but instead it is some sort of spiritual experience. I’d love for one to come on and say “Hey, I get $300 an hour doing this and otherwise I’d be making $13 an hour as an adminstrative aide.” Scarlett Stangata was the most honest so far and that was the best interview.

  3. I really enjoy the podcast. I’ve never had the pleasure of meeting the dominatrixes you’ve interviewed, but by incredible good fortune you’ve interviewed several of the women – Mistresses Yin, Alex, Scarlet, and Sade – whose blogs I enjoy reading regularly. Your interviewing technique is very good and lets your guests come across well – very candid, thoughtful, intelligent, and incredibly erotic – as I expected from their blogs. I envy you for knowing your guests in person.

    Well done!

  4. I wanted to listen to this podcast a second time before commenting, but after reading these comments I thought I’d throw mine in just for some quick balance. First, I am someone who has found many of the previous Masocast’s frustratingly short. In most things I subscribe to the “leave them wanting more” philosophy, so I was fine with it, but I really appreciated the extra ten or fifteen minutes and the deeper conversation it allowed. So, count me in as a fan of the longer format.

As for Mistress Yin, I’ve never had a session with her or met her, but I’m a big fan of her blog. For me, she epitomizes the serious professional domme who is doing pro-BDSM as both a personal commitment and professional discipline. People all over the world find ways to do things that they love or have a deep connection to and get paid for doing them, so why shouldn’t a pro domme be any different?

As for the interview itself, it was excellent and added another dimension to someone whose voice through the written word is already multi-faceted. I hope you do a follow-up with her.

My favorite Masocasts so far have been Yin’s, Sade’s, and Alex’s so count me in as someone who is interested in interviews with articulate and intelligent pro-dommes.

  5. Subdued, I really get tired of hearing the old rationalization from dommes and their clients that its not about the money, but rather about serving the greater good. When some domme says she does some sessions for free, then I’ll believe it. I’m not planning on holding my breath until then. Time with a professional dominatrix costs what it does because every session brings with it a chance of arrest for a domme and, in this age of the internet, its is difficult if not impossible, for a woman to mask her identity as a pro domme and there are potential life-long repercussions. Those risks drive up the price. The claim there is a supposed “skill” in being a pro domme is no different than the claimed “skill” needed in being an escort.

  6. Hi Crow’s Cake,

Well, respectfully, I got tired of this old “dommes are just in it for the money” argument that pops up on Max Fisch and elsewhere from time to time. You want someone to domme you for free — check out a lifestyle site. You want to see a woman skilled in advanced bondgage, corporal and medical play, someone who knows how to play hard and do it safely, someone with a very expensive leather wardrobe who plays in an elaborately designed and well equipped dungeon, and, yes, someone who is willing to do all of this while undertaking some degree of legal risk — well, yes, you have to pay for that. I’m a professional, as I’m sure you are, and people pay me for my services. Does that mean I don’t like it? Not at all.

I don’t think a lot of dommes say they are doing it “for the greater good” as much as they are saying that they are embracing a craft that they enjoy and are trying to make a full or part-time living from it. Again, that’s not so different from most of the rest of us. And I’m happy to pay a fee for all of the things I listed above.

  7. I’m a long time reader of the Mistress Yin blog and found your site linked to hers. I really loved this broadcast. You have a very nice style. It reminds me of an NPR radio announcer.

However, I’d like to disagree with one thing you said. Midway through the broadcast, you mention that many people fear the Mistress Yin due to her reputation as an extreme sadist. You then wonder how that is possible, since she is so friendly. I’m sure it was unintentional on your part, but this sort of comment propagates the misconception that all sadists are sneering angry sociopaths out looking for victims. The Mistress Yin is a perfect example of why this stereotype of a sadist is incorrect. If you read her blog, it is full of stories of slaves having their genitals pierced and kept on chains, people repeatedly shocked with zap collars, people having their testicles sewn shut with staples and people who almost drowned tied up and left with bags of water on their heads. This is serious hardcore sadism. Yet there are also stories on her blog about her struggles to complete college, her recent marriage and the foods she likes to eat. The moral is that sadists are just like you and I, except for their proclivity to enjoy hurting people. They are not lunatics hiding in the shadows waiting to spring out and catch victims like in some horror movie.

  8. My favorite Masocast yet (I can’t include myself because I would sound way too narcissistic!) Yin is brilliant; her interview reinforces all of the amazing things I’ve heard about her from my friends who know her. And one of these days I hope to be able to corroborate!

ps – I like the longer format. I always want more Masocast.

  9. @crows cake
You can stop holding your breath. I’m a prodomme with a high Tribute and I sometimes play for free. I just don’t play for free with grumpy naysayers like you.

I’ve also been steadily employed outside of professional domination for far longer than I’ve been a domme. My vanilla hourly rate has been well north of $50/hr for more than a decade (actually, it’s in the mid three-digits for my current vanilla gig…and I’m not a lawyer). I haven’t made less than $20/hr for two decades. Even way back when I was an admin asst I was making $25-35/hr.

    So quit yer bitchin.

    @axe
FWIW, I like the longer format, too. Esp when the subject has interesting stuff to say.

  11. The very first show of the new series, broadcast on Saturday, featured a kissogram, a naked Doctor and a “sexed up” Tardis.During the unique 65-minute episode, The Eleventh Hour, in which Doctor Who had 20 minutes to save Earth from aliens known as the Atraxi, his new companion, Amy Pond, was revealed as a kissogram dressed in a skimpy policeman’s outfit, complete with mini-skirt and handcuffs. In 1 scene, Amy, played by the actress Karen Gillan, told the Doctor that her kissogram repertoire also included nuns and nurses’ outfits. Come across out far more at Sci Fi Fan.

  12. wonderful listening ……Mistress Yin’s voice is no doubt the first step in her naturally sadistic seductions…….yes agree your work might represent the best of BDSM- NPR style and that is a compliment!

  13. I’m so glad you asked M. Yin about rituals. Her answer was beautiful and I will be keeping those thoughts with me for a long time. Like a previous commenter, I will be listening to this episode again (maybe just the ritual bit).

To comment to the editor, on the other comments:

I encourage you to edit podcast length in response to the content, not in response to people’s public transport use.

I love hearing interviews with pro-dommes. I want more, not less interviews with pro-dommes (although, the balance is fine with me as it stands).
